Five Principles for Choosing Plastic Water Bottle
1. Material
There is an arrow triangle at the bottom of a regular plastic bottle. There is a number in the triangle. The following figures in the triangle at the bottom of a plastic bottle refer to the composition of the bottle and its impact on human health.
1) PET: polyethylene terephthalate. Common in mineral water bottles, carbonated beverage bottles, etc. When the temperature reaches 70 C, it is easy to deform, and some harmful substances are melted. The carcinogen DEHP may be released after 10 months of use. This kind of bottle can't be put in the car to bask in the sun, and can't be filled with alcohol, oil and other substances.
2) HDPE: High Density Polyethylene. Common in white medicine bottles, cleaning supplies, bath products. It can't be used to make water cups.
3) PVC: polyvinyl chloride. Common in raincoats, building materials, plastic film, plastic boxes and so on. Because of its excellent plasticity and low price, it is widely used. It can reach its peak when heat resistance reaches 81 C. It is easy to produce harmful substances at high temperature, and is seldom used in food packaging. Difficult to clean, easy to remain, do not recycle.
4) PE: Polyethylene. Common in fresh-keeping film, plastic film, etc. When high temperature occurs, harmful substances are produced. When toxic substances enter the human body with food, they may cause breast cancer, congenital defects of newborns and other diseases.
5) PP: polypropylene. Commonly found in soybean milk bottles, yoghurt bottles, microwave oven lunch boxes, melting point as high as 167 C, is the only plastic products that can be put into the microwave oven, can be reused after careful cleaning. It should be noted that some microwave oven lunch boxes are made of No. 5 PP, but the lid of the box is made of No. 1 PET. Because PET can not withstand high temperature, it can not be put into the microwave oven with the box.
6) PS: polystyrene. Commonly found in bowl boxes, instant food boxes. It should not be put into microwave oven to avoid releasing harmful chemicals due to excessive temperature. Avoid packing hot food in fast food boxes, and don't boil instant noodles in microwave ovens.
7) Other Classes of PC. Common in water bottles, space cups, milk bottles. Department stores often use water cups made of these materials as gifts. However, the water cup made of this material can easily release the toxic substance bisphenol A, which is harmful to human body. In addition, don't heat the water cup when using it, and avoid direct sunshine.
2. Looking at Transparency.
Observe the transparency and purity of the bottle wall. Bad plastic water bottles will stick and astringent if they are not washed clean.
3. Smell
Bad water bottles have a pungent odor. Even if they are filled with drinks or food, they can smell from the outside without opening them.
4. Hardness
Good plastic water bottles are thick and rigid. Hand pressure will not cause excessive deformation.
5. Gloss
Good plastic containers have glossy, soft surfaces, and inferior plastic water bottles are somewhat dark.
